84 Hours and Counting...

How much can one family pack in one summer? We started off the summer with a great anniversary and then launched into packing up and getting ready to head for Colorado for three weeks at Missionary Training. It was an amazing experience, learning about how to immerse into another culture with having the best possible tools. We learned about stress and different ways to relieve stress, we learned about our conflict styles, we learned the importance of saying "goodbye" well and how to exit our own culture and to enter into another one. The entire experience was extremely valuable and rewarding in so many different ways. We are forever thankful for the MTI experience and are so grateful for all of the new families that we connected with and are now praying for as they head out all over the world.

When we returned we were faced with the challenge of completely being out of our home in three weeks. It was an emotional roller coaster as each day we had to weigh our options of what to take, what to get rid of, and what to save for a later date. We ended up packing 18 fifty gallon containers to ship and then we each get to take 2 fifty pound duffle bags with us on the flight. With much help from dear, dear friends we were able to clean and disperse of everything in our home by the time of closing. It was so hard for me saying "goodbye" to a home I loved, to wonderful neighbors and to a community that we were blessed to be a part of. As soon as we signed the closing papers, we were off and running again to spend a day with my brother and precious sister-in-law in Ohio. Again, we were provided with such a wonderful time as many friends both old and new gathered together to pray for us and encourage us in such a personal way. A special thank you goes out to MosaicNEO and the wonderful people there! We came back and had our last Sunday at Valleybrook where both Noah and Amanda were baptized and we were blessed with a powerful commissioning service. Shortly after that, we met with our small group for one last hoorah-everyone enjoying a last round of games, laughter and fun. A sincere thankyou to each one of that special group! We love you guys! Since Sunday, we have continued to meet with various friends and family members to try and say "goodbye" the best way we know how. It has been a whirlwind of activity and will continue to be over the next 84 hours! Please continue to pray for our family to wrap things up here in Illinios well, and to have safe travels down to the Dominican on Sunday. We are so overwhelmed at the Lord's goodness in our lives, as He is continuing to knit every detail into place for us. We are humbled by His love and grace each day.

In His Name,

Lindsay
